Elliott McDowell and Amrit Mann have been announced as newly appointed Head Boy and Girl for Wolverhampton Grammar School.
The positions of Head Boy and Girl provide key leadership and a supportive role for students across the School. The roles are selected annually and are open to all students in our Lower Sixth form ahead of their progression in September to the Upper Sixth.
Both Elliott and Amrit joined the School in Year 7 following a visit to a School Open Day. They both recall meeting the Head Boy and Girl on arrival – and were motivated even then to aspire to undertake the role one day.
Commenting about their appointment, Elliott and Amrit appreciate the important role models that they are to become. They see the role as being a combination of “advisor” and “mentor” to fellow students – in particular the new starters who will join the School in September.
“I am constantly impressed by the fantastic facilities and opportunities that are available here at Wolverhampton Grammar School and I wanted to be part of that ongoing success ensuring that every pupil here gets the opportunity to take part in a whole range of activities ranging from our Acapella Choir, LAMDA to Political Forums, Photography clubs and everything in between” said Bridgnorth born Elliott.
Amrit (who lives in Wightwick) added “If I could give one piece of advice to someone joining the School in September it would be to get involved, we’re an incredibly welcoming community and we’re looking forward to helping you join in and make the most of this amazing experience”.
Students can join Wolverhampton Grammar School at any point from Year 3 (in our Junior School) to Year 12 (6th form) and so the roles of Head Boy and Girl are instrumental in supporting all students as they arrive and progress throughout the School.
Kathy Crewe-Read, Head of Wolverhampton Grammar School added: “The selection of Elliott and Amrit as Head Boy and Girl is a great choice and I’m really looking forward to working with them as they take on this important role for our School community”.
