Staff and students from Wolverhampton Grammar School are on track to raise thousands for Birmingham Children’s Hospital following the completion of a gruelling coast to coast running challenge.
The 9 students, accompanied by a staff led support bus, completed the 187 miles from St Bee’s Head in Cumbria to Robin Hood’s Bay in Yorkshire following Wainwright’s famous walking trail over three spectacular National Parks (the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and North Yorkshire Moors).
Running in continuous relay, the 9 students who are all aged between 14-15 completed the challenge in just over 26 hours.
James Millichamp, Acting Head of Year 7 at Wolverhampton Grammar School and challenge co-ordinator added, “Wolverhampton Grammar School’s Coast to Coast charity challenge is now in its 15th year and has raised thousands of pounds for many local charities”.
Congratulations to students (pictured left to right) Dan Adams, Aaron Bachra, Joe Fellows-Cox, Manraj Dhillon, Poppy Nabbs, Hattie Barber, Bella Harris, Alice Nightingale and Amelia Lewis who all took part in the challenge. They were also responsible for selecting Birmingham Children’s Hospital as this year’s charity.
