Members of the Junior Saint James’s Singers at The Croft led evensong at St Paul’s Cathedral, London on 28 October 2013.
The evensong was a huge performance for the school, which had dedicated all rehearsals since September to learning the pieces. There were many hardworking Tuesday nights to get the choir sounding perfect.
Arriving at St Paul’s, they were blown away by the whole experience, everybody’s excitement was growing by the minute, and they couldn’t wait to explore the cathedral.
The choir were taken on a tour, and shown many of the amazing and beautiful sights within the building; then climbed 257 steps up to the wonderful ‘Whispering Gallery’.
In the afternoon, they practiced in the Quire Stalls for the first time; the acoustics were fabulous and their voices echoed for several seconds around the dome, before finally fading away.
