Surbiton High School has won the award for Outstanding Governing Body of the Year at the annual Independent School Awards, the second year that the school has enjoyed success.
The Awards recognise institutions and individuals who display excellence in the education sector across twelve categories.
The judging panel praised Surbiton High for the hands on and personal approach of its eleven governors who offer the school and its pupils a broad range of experience and skills. The governors showed that they are committed to the nurture and development of each pupil so they leave school with identified strengths and confidence.
Eggie Kock, Chair of the governors,said: “We are very proud of our role and responsibilities at the school and each of us is committed to engaging with the Surbiton High community to offer advice and practical support from backgrounds as diverse as law, professional sport, business and the church.”
Ann Haydon, Principal of Surbiton High, adds: “Our governors are all experts in their chosen field and are approachable and inspirational role models for our pupils. At Surbiton High, we inspire, encourage and empower each student to be confident in their own unique abilities and our governors play a huge role in this. This award is testament to the commitment, time and passion they give to the school and we are delighted at this outstanding recognition of their work.”
