A programme of fun and hands-on challenges were on offer to students at St Mary’s Senior School in Colchester, Essex from 29 June to 3 July. The activities offered a break from online learning for each year group with the opportunity for the girls to learn new skills and test themselves outside of their usual studies.
Due to the current lockdown restrictions, Challenge Week replaced the annual Activities Week where St Mary’s Senior School students travel to European destinations for adventures abroad. The girls had a choice of over 60 challenges, with tasks ranging from photography, tie-dying, pet pampering and fitness challenges, to looking at wildlife conservation, international and service tasks as well as upcycling challenges. There was something for everyone!
Principal of St Mary’s, Mrs Hilary Vipond was delighted with the response to Challenge Week: “Challenge Week has provided an opportunity for the girls to have fun and try something new, I have been so impressed with the girls’ creativity, patience and enthusiasm! The activities were designed to cover many aspects of our Round Square membership IDEALS (Internationalism, Democracy, Environment, Adventure, Leadership and Service) along with creative, wellbeing and physical challenges. We received an overwhelming amount of evidence from the students, with House Points, certificates and prizes awarded for the most points gained and for those submissions judged to be of the best quality.”
