As part of the excellent politics programmes at New Hall School, Sir Alan Haslehurst MP visited the school on Friday 29 January.
Sir Alan, who has served as Member of Parliament for Saffron Walden since 1977, initially visited the Senior School and had lunch with the Year 12 Politics students and members of the Politics Department. He then took part in a ‘Question and Answer’ session with students from the Sixth Form.
Following the discussions with the Year 12 and Year 13 students, Sir Alan went on to meet Year 6 pupils in the Preparatory Division at New Hall. The pupils, aged 10 and 11, study a unique politics course, designed by New Hall’s Head of Politics, as part of their timetabled lessons. Sir Alan spoke to the children about his life as a politician and answered some thought-provoking questions.
Head of Politics, Andrew Bowman said: “We are delighted that Sir Alan Haslehurst MP visited New Hall School today. We were running an Economics Conference at the Senior School so this was a perfect time for Sir Alan to come in and talk with our students”.
