Students from New Hall School, a Catholic independent boarding and day school in Chelmsford, star in the school’s Christmas production, Beauty and the Beast this week. The well-known story allowed students to demonstrate their versatility as actors with complicated dialogue, challenging costumes, props and large-scale musical numbers.
The production was performed over four sell-out nights in the school’s state-of-the-art theatre and starred Head Boy Hayden Munt, from Braintree, as The Beast and Isobel Miller de Vega, from Feering, as Belle.
Other leading cast members included Tim Hodson, from Chelmsford, who played Lumiere; Nathan Collins, from Ingatestone, who played Coggsworth; Natasha McKinnon, from Brentwood, who played Mrs Potts and Bethany Murphy, from Stock, who played Chip.
Mrs Katherine Jeffrey, Principal at New Hall School said “The students have exceeded themselves once again this year with this production of Beauty and the Beast. All of the cast and crew have worked incredibly hard, rehearsing at every possible opportunity around their academic studies and their dedication has paid off. It is productions like this that demonstrate the exceptional level of talent we have here at New Hall School”.
Mr David Rutter, Head of Drama and the production’s Director said “I joined New Hall School in September of this year and felt the first production of the school year should be a family favourite and set the mood for the festive season. The students and staff have really lived up to the challenge; I am so proud and grateful to all of them.”
