Millfield and Millfield Prep pupils continued their involvement in the national Team Maths Challenge this week, sending a joint team to take part in the final in London. One of 88 teams to compete in the final, Millfield finished a very creditable 11th in the rankings. Overall over 1500 teams entered the whole competition.
The event was held at the Royal Horticultural Halls in London and involved similar rounds to the regional heats with the added ‘poster competition’ round. This additional round involved each team receiving information in advance to research and investigate. At the final, the teams made a poster incorporating the materials that they have prepared while also addressing related questions given out on the day.
Well done to year 9s Thomas Hewitt and Max French and to Millfield Prep pupils Yukha Machino and Tomotaka Mogami.
The national Team Maths Challenge is run by the UK Mathematics Trust and involves teams of four pupils aged between 11 and 14 competing in various rounds.
