Top performing sixth-formers at The Marist Senior School in Sunninghill, were recognised at an annual presentation evening last Friday 7 November. Guest of honour at the event, was Charlotte Turner (née Smith) who was Vice Captain of the Great Britain Synchronised Swimming Team in 2002/2003 and is currently Deputy Editor and Managing Editor online for TRBusiness magazine. Charlotte was a former pupil at The Marist.
As well as speaking about her memories of her time at The Marist before studying English Literature and Creative Writing at Brunel University and pursuing her successful career, Charlotte presented awards and trophies to last year’s sixth form students for their outstanding contribution to the school, as well as for excellent academic and personal achievement.
Top performer at GCSE, Jordan Coules was recognised with a prize for the highest results, a cup for general excellence as well as an academic scholarship to the Marist Sixth Form. Similarly, top A level performer Emily Ducas who achieved 4 A*s in Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Mathematics and Physics was awarded a string of school prizes in addition to an ICE Scholarship by the Institution of Civil Engineering. Emily is currently reading Civil Engineering at Bristol University.
Headteacher, Karl McCloskey said: “It is always a privilege and honour to welcome back our past pupils. We share with them their joy in their achievements, successes and personal accomplishments. We are immensely proud of each and every Marist girl”.
