Felsted School pupils, Harry Sturge, aged 13 from High Easter and Robbie MacLennan, also aged 13, from Panfield, performed highly at the East Area Athletics Competition in Bedford on Thursday 5th June. Harry won the shot put with an impressive throw of 11.44 metres and came 2nd in the discus, throwing a distance of 30.09 metres. Robbie qualified in the javelin, coming 2nd with a very respectable throw of 32.68m in a strong cross wind that made throwing more of a challenge.
Both of the students have qualified to the IAPS National Athletic Finals which will take place in Birmingham on 2nd July.
Director of Sports and Activities at Felsted Preparatory School, Brian Hays, comments “I am very proud of what the boys have achieved and they should both be strong contenders at the Nationals. The school has a throwing heritage now, with National finalists and top 3 placings for the last 5 years. I would like to wish Harry and Robbie the best of luck and will continue to support them in their training.”
