Felsted Preparatory pupils in Years 5 and 6 amused audiences last week with their performance of Kate Umansky’s witty adaptation of the tale of Robin Hood. The pupils displayed great acting, singing and dancing abilities and the audience, which included the author Kay Umansky herself, were left thoroughly entertained.
Julie Green, teacher at Felsted Preparatory School, comments on the performances that stood out: “Evil Prince John (played by Oliver Craig) effortlessly captured the witty aspect to his role. He was ably assisted by The Sheriff (Henry Barker) who confidently played his part as a bad guy, obsessed by his badge! The iconic part of Robin Hood (Harvey Alcott) was well delivered as he and his men tried to thwart Prince John’s evil plans. It was the Marionettes, led confidently by Maid Marion (Katie Kingham) who were the true heroines of the play. With the help of Mother Mensa (Mollie Mead) and Allan-a-Dale (Cooper Baker), good conquered evil!”
Headmistress at Felsted Preparatory School, Jenny Burrett, reflects on the play: “The show was filled with an abundance of amazing talent. There was rapping, mediaeval dancing, superb sound effects, solos and confident delivery of some tricky lines. The solo singing was beautiful, with Mollie Mead singing a very atmospheric solo as Mensa. Special mention must also go to the Mediaeval singers who sang faultlessly throughout and were ably accompanied by the Mediaeval orchestra. The individual dances by Arwen Gogerly and Sana Abu-Jabir were an added delight! I am very proud of all the pupils, the producer Joanna Sugden and the whole drama department for putting on such a wonderful production!”
