Felsted School dancer Sarah Blanc, age 18 from Colchester, has secured a place at Italia Conti Academy to study professional dance in September.
Sarah achieved an impressive 36 points in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma (equivalent to at least 3 As at A-level), studying psychology, economics, biology, English, French and maths whilst balancing her dancing commitments.
Sarah comments: “I chose to study the IB because I didn’t want to limit myself to just three subjects and I felt that it provided me with a more well-rounded education as well as giving me a strong foundation to fall back on in the future if I wish to.”
Sarah has been dancing since the age of four and recently qualified for the contemporary dance Nationals which were due to take place in May. During lockdown her dance group raised over £8,000 for the NHS by completing a 12 hour danceathon.
Sarah spent a lot of time attending auditions and workshops during her application to Italia Conti and was thrilled when she was offered a place earlier this year. Every year Italia Conti produces talent across all areas of the arts industry from music, theatre, television and entertainment with famous alumni including Noel Coward, Clive Dunn, Charles Hawtrey, Tracie Bennett, Kelly Brook, Naomi Campbell and Pixie Lott.
At Felsted Sarah balanced her academic work with a number of other co-curricular commitments, including working towards her Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award and representing Felsted on the hockey field.
