The new academic year starts at Canford School in Dorset with the arrival of a new headmaster. Mr Ben Vessey joins the school from Christ’s Hospital in West Sussex, where he held the post of senior deputy head.
Following an education at Magdalen College School, Oxford, a Masters in history and an MBA focused on educational management, Mr Vessey spent nine years at Dauntsey’s, during which time he held the post of head of history and was also a housemaster. He then moved to Millfield to lead the history, politics and law faculty. Over the past five years at Christ’s Hospital, he has played a key role in the strategic development of the school. A keen sportsman, rugby in particular, he has coached pupils in various sports and at various levels during his career.He also takes great interest in the arts.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr Vessey says: “It is a privilege to lead such a dynamic and committed community as headmaster of Canford, and I am truly honoured to have the chance to promote and enhance the existing ethos of this fine school.”
