Bedford Modern pupil Elspeth Keep, having achieved one of the highest distinctions at Grade 8 verse and prose in the country, the Bedford Modern School Year 13 student was invited to take part in LAMDA’s Poetry Night in London adjudicated by Roger McGough.
Competing against other LAMDA students, 18 year old Elspeth made the final round and finished in second place. This is a fantastic achievement at such a prestigious event and Elspeth was awarded £100 and a bottle of champagne!
As Bedford Modern School celebrates ten years of co-education with a specially commissioned play The Only Way, Elspeth was one of the pioneer girls who joined the School in 2003 and played a lead role in this production. With nine GCSEs, she is studying film studies, government and politics and English literature and intends to remain heavily involved in drama for years to come.
