Barrow Hills School has appointed Ms Eva Garcia Claramonte as the preparatory school’s new Head of Science.
Ms Garcia – as she is referred to by pupils and staff – is the former Deputy Head and Head of Science at Barrow Hills eight years ago. She will be returning to the school after spending time in a variety of different teaching environments spanning both senior and preparatory schools.
After graduating from Surrey University with a joint honours in Biology and Chemistry, Ms Garcia went on to gain her PGCE qualification at Goldsmiths, University of London.
As Head of Science at Barrow Hills, Ms Garcia will be responsible for monitoring the teaching of science across all the year groups, in addition to having direct teaching responsibility throughout the senior school.
Commenting on her new position, Ms Garcia says: “I’m delighted to be returning to such a caring school and I am really looking forward to inspiring a love of science amongst all the children. I hope to encourage a ‘can do’ attitude to the discipline, to prove that science is a subject for everyone. I will also be looking to establish good cross curricular links and plan to work closely with my new colleagues to ensure that the teaching of science ties in with other subjects.”
Ms Garcia will be moving to Barrow Hills with her husband and five-year-old daughter.
