Benenden School has started construction work on its £7million development programme. Launched earlier this year, the Centenary Vision aims to create an array of state-of-the-art new facilities at school in time for its centenary in 2023.
The first phase of the multi-million improvement plan is the Perfect Pitch campaign, which includes an installation of an all-weather floodlit sports pitch and pavilion with an international size lacrosse and hockey pitch, a redeveloped school hall, and new staff accommodation. Work has now begun on the all-weather pitch, which is expected to be ready for use in September 2016.
Mrs Price, who joined Benenden in January 2014, commented: “Our Centenary Vision is an ambitious development programme which will help us to further improve the complete education we offer girls at Benenden, and to ensure they are getting the very best facilities to support an innovative curriculum to let them succeed in the modern world.
“When the all-weather pitch and the school hall are completed, we will be delighted to welcome local community groups to share these wonderful facilities. The Centenary Vision is not just an investment in Benenden School but an investment in the community.”
The Centenary Vision was launched in April by HRH The Princess Royal, who was a Benenden pupil in the 1960s. Once the Perfect Pitch phase has been completed, the remaining projects of the Centenary Vision include an establishment of a music school, improved teaching facilities and enhancing the School’s sports centre.
